What is Jwanzaa?

Jwanzaa Youth Partnership is a family strengthening and youth development program under the umbrella of Zenzele, Inc. a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) in the state of Maryland.  Jwanzaa provides youth with unique opportunities for leadership, community service and personal success.  Jwanzaa accomplishes its goals through a partnership of parents, guardians, adult volunteers and mentors.

Jwanzaa’s goals:

v  To assist in improving youth self-esteem and self awareness.

v  To encourage youth to stay in school and attend college.

v  To help youth develop good study habits and improve academic skills and test scores.

v  To strengthen awareness of family values.

v  To provide cultural enrichment and enhance awareness of historical accomplishments.

v  To help youth develop an appreciation of community, church and school.

The strategies for accomplishing its goals:

v  Providing youth with adult mentors

v  Providing parents with support programs and resources

v  Providing youth and parents with bi-weekly workshops and group activities

v  Empowering youth and parents with leadership roles and responsibilities
